  3. AutoMan, Automatic Network Management Shareware.
  4.  
  5. AutoMan, software for IBM compatible PC's with at least 256K of free RAM and the DOS 
  6. operating environment has the following features :
  7.  
  8. 1]    Automatic file processing
  9.     AutoMan will automatically process any batch, executable or command file, at 
  10.     any time, on any day or days throughout the year. Configuration is done by 
  11.     inserting up to 250 "Parameters". Each time a parameter is processed, a record
  12.     is placed in the Transaction Log file, the program unloads itself, the batch 
  13.     file or program is run, and the program then re-loads itself, ensuring the 
  14.     system does not restrict the memory available to run programs. A Command 
  15.     string, which may contain the current day, date and time, can be passed to any 
  16.     batch file or program. Various utility programs allow simulation of keyboard 
  17.     input.

  19. 2]    Disk space monitoring
  20.     AutoMan will monitor space on all drives and warn if any disk is filling.
  21.  
  22. 3]    Monitoring of critical data recording activity
  23.     AutoMan can warn if a critical data recording PC on the network has failed. 
  24.     Applications may be for example, to monitor a Shopfloor data collection or 
  25.     Telephone logging PC.

  27. 4]    Integral Batch file editor / De-bugger
  28.     The AutoMan editor is designed for editing batch files. Standard pull down 
  29.     menu options make use of the editor straight forward. Useful features include:
  30.     i]    View the current "DOS" screen at any time (F4)
  31.     ii]    Jump into a DOS shell (Shift F4)
  32.     iii]    Execute statements individually (F8)
  33.     iv]    Execute batch files from start to finish
  34.     v]    Unlimited breakpoints 
  35.     vi]    View structure of batch file (Call & if statements etc)

  37. 5]    Context sensitive & DOS help
  38.     On-line, Context sensitive help is available on F1 for every DOS command, 
  39.     together with comprehensive help on all aspects of AutoMan.

  42.     A customised menu of programs can be created allowing easy access to programs
  43.     which may relate to AutoMan, or to a preferred editor.

  46. Mode of operation
  47.     There are two modes of AutoMan. The first is monitor mode when the program 
  48.     automatically carries out tasks. The second is menu mode, accessed by pressing 
  49.     the ALT key, in which all AutoMan configuration and debugging features are
  50.     available.

  52.     Although ideally the program should be active throughout the day, thereby 
  53.     monitoring disk and file status at all times, merely loading the program at 
  54.     night each day will still ensure that all parameters are processed - the system
  55.     will "Catch up" on any parameters that are overdue.

  74. Once installation is complete, and before any configuration takes place, 
  75. a tutorial can be run. This tutorial explains a number of basic 
  76. configuration options of the program, and demonstrates ways in which the 
  77. program may be of help.
